ASDC Southwest Appoints Lapointe Program Facilitator

Lethbridge, AB- The ASDC Southwest is pleased to announce the hiring of Jennifer Lapointe as Program Facilitator for the Centre. Lapointe is a born and raised resident of Lethbridge, having graduated from Catholic Central High School.

Jen is a recent graduate of the University of Alberta, where she attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with Distinction. Her experience as an athletic trainer and manager for numerous postsecondary athletic teams in Edmonton has given her a great deal of insight into the world of high performance athletics.

“Jen’s experience with athletes makes her an excellent leader for our Centre programming.” Stated Travis Grindle, Executive Director of ASDC Southwest. “She has worked with some of the provinces most established College and University athletes and staff, and as a result understands the importance and demand that is placed upon athletic organizations to mold their athletes into their best possible selves.”

Lapointe will oversee the delivery of a number of programs including the Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP). The AEP is the flagship program of the ASDC Network, aimed at providing high quality sports science programming to the elite and emerging athletes in Lethbridge and the Southwest region. Additionally, Jen will oversee and coordinate the delivery of other Centre services, such as movement analysis, high performance training and fitness testing.

“This is an awesome opportunity for me to use my degree and increase my knowledge of sport and athlete development beyond my strong science background, said Lapointe.  “I think I can contribute innovative ideas to the programs that the ASDC provides, and with these I look forward to helping emerging athletes achieve their athletic potential.”

The ASDC Network was established by the Alberta Sport Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation to coordinate and enhance services available to Alberta's emerging athletes and coaches.  These regional centres provide services to athletes and coaches residing in rural and urban areas allowing athletes to develop and train at a high level without leaving home.

Primary funding for the ASDC Network is through partnership with the ASRPWF, which is a non-profit Crown Corporation supported by the Alberta Lottery Fund. ASDC Southwest is also a registered society and operates not for profit. This allows the Centre to offer programming and services at reasonable and accessible rates.
